Following an extensive design, consultation and approval process, the South Coast LED Lighting Upgrade project contract amendments will see Enerveo significantly expand the scope of its current PFI contract to a full-scale LED design, supply and install upgrade programme. The project will lead to greener, more sustainable lighting on roads and significant carbon savings for the Council through improved energy efficiency.
By replacing traditional lights with LEDs, which have a much longer lifespan and use less electricity, the project will substantially reduce carbon emissions and accelerate West Sussex County Council’s transition to net zero.
The project commenced on 9th March 2026 and will see 65,249 lights upgraded to LEDs on behalf of West Sussex County Council over a 48-month period. Part of the project includes installation of Enerveo’s innovative Mayflower Smart Control Central Management System (CMS) across West Sussex.
The implementation started in Crawley, where street lighting uses the most energy and then moves through the county to ensure efficient future maintenance.
